Liz Garnham awarded M.B.E
Queens Honours List
I can’t think of a better way to bring in the New Year than congratulating our Chair of Governors, Liz Garnham, who has been awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for her services to Education. Liz has advocated and fought for the rights and needs of children, and adults with special needs and their families for well over twenty years. Examples of her commitment to these areas can be measured in the number of organisations in which she is currently involved. These include:-
Chair of Govs Uffculme School
Chair of Govs Hamilton School (until recently)
Vice Chair Birmingham Parent Carer Forum( name change from Parents Views Count)
Lead Organisation for Independent Supporters for EHCP's
Vice Chair Birmingham Governors Network
ECSGF ( Executive Cabinet Member and School Governor Forum)
Chair Birmingham Governors Network Steering Group
NGA Special School Advisory Group
SEND Stakeholder Group
Board Member Parent Partnership Executive Board
Board Member Lindridge Enterprises (Post 16yrs SEND)
She also manages (somehow) to have a very high commitment and involvement in many youth and play groups during weekends, evenings and holiday times whilst making herself available on her personal telephone to numerous families at any time of the day.
All on a purely voluntary basis.
As I told staff on Monday, finally, we can all say that we know someone who actually deserves such an honour. I’m sure you would like to join me in congratulating Liz.
I am very proud to have been the Head Teacher at Uffculme School since 1999. Our children and families are fantastic and I am very honoured to be part of a very creative, dedicated and skilled staff. Working together as a community is the only way that our children can optimise their learning, enjoyment and well-being and take their rightful place in society. I hope this website will help you to decide if our school may be the appropriate one for your child. Please do not hesitate to contact us for a school visit – usually on a Thursday morning – to further help you in one of your most important decisions you will take for your child. I look forward to seeing you in the future.
