Travel Advice: Upcoming Fixtures at Edgbaston Stadium

From Thursday 10 June – Monday 14 June there will be circa 20,000 spectators per day attending the England v New Zealand cricket match at Edgbaston Stadium and therefore the local transport network will be busier than usual, including local roads and public transport.

Staff and students will still be able to get to where they need to go but we recommend that everyone:

  • Plans ahead and leaves more time for their journey.
  • Considers using alternative routes where possible which avoid close proximity to Edgbaston Stadium.
  • Considers walking and cycling for shorter journeys. The A38 blue cycle route and Worcester Birmingham Canal provide great links from the city centre to Edgbaston and Selly Oak. The West Midlands Cycle Hire Scheme is now live in Birmingham with docks located in the city centre and in Edgbaston, find out more at www.wmcyclehire.co.uk
  • Public transport may be busier than usual and students may therefore have to wait for additional services in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

We would appreciate your support in communicating this information out to your students and staff.

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) wants everyone to travel around easily and safely while these events take place.
